Mrs. Santoro is originally from New York where she earned her BA in Psychology from Manhattan College. She has worked in daycare for 36 years taking care of infants and 1-year-olds. Mrs. Pittman has worked with children for 27 years through work as a nanny, daycare worker, arts and craft director for Sharon United Methodist Church, JCA afterschool director, JCA Substitute Teacher, and full-time JCA teacher for various elementary-aged classes. Mrs. Pittman is a trained interior designer and loves crafting.
1st Grade
Mrs. Whalen is originally from Chesapeake, VA, where she graduated from Great Bridge High School before earning an Associate degree from Everest College. She has a long history with JCA, previously teaching k-4th grades for several years.
2nd Grade
Mrs. Schmidt is originally from Pittsburg, PA, where she earned an Associate Degree for Specialized Business in Secretarial Science Studies from the ICM School of Business. Mrs. Schmidt has years of entrepreneurial experience in pet services and recent educational experience as a teacher assistant with Currituck Public Schools.
3rd Grade
Ms. Voliva is entering her 3rd year at JCA and previously worked as the Care Manager for the Alzheimer's unit at Gates House in Gatesville, NC. She is also continuing her education at Liberty University, pursuing a degree in Elementary Education.
4th Grade
Ms. Scott has been a part of the JCA community for four years as a dedicated substitute teacher, building strong relationships with students and families.
Ms. Scott has also volunteered with JCC’s Clothing Closet Ministry and supported various school events. She is excited to bring her love of learning, organization, and care for students into the classroom to help each child thrive.

Mrs. Ingram is originally from Virginia Beach and has lived with her husband in Currituck for 30 years. Both of her children were baptized at Jarvisburg Church of Christ, where she has been a member since 1998. She, along with two dedicated church members, founded Jarvisburg Christian Academy over 15 years ago. Kelly taught middle and high school students at JCA for 6 years. Before that, she ran a home daycare for five years, was a substitute teacher in the Currituck Public School system, and a volunteer teacher’s aide for primarily kindergarten and first-grade students at Griggs Elementary.

Mrs. O'Sullivan also has professional experience in photography, videography, post-production, and advertising. She loves teaching art and stage production to children as well as a passion for teaching Jesus.

She spent 14 years living and working in Germany, serving in the legal field for the U.S. Army. Throughout her career, she was stationed in Germany, Tennessee, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. One of her most notable assignments was serving at the Pentagon, where she worked in Intelligence and Disaster Management.
After a distinguished career in government service, Ms. Miller retired and now owns and operates Surfing Mermaid Designs. She is passionate about her faith, her family, and equipping young people with the essential life skills they need to succeed.

During her time as a student, she came to the United States on a Visa in order to work at Snowshoe, West Virginia. During her second year of working at the resort, she met her husband, fell in love, and traveled to different ski resorts teaching. After four years of living between Chile and the United States, they got married and dedicated their time to teaching children to ski. She is excited to join the JCA family as our Spanish teacher.

Ms. Alyssa was born and raised in New Hampshire and lived in New Mexico and Virginia before moving to Currituck County in 2020. She has 10 children and coaches basketball, volleyball, and soccer for Currituck Parks and Rec. She became a substitute for Currituck County Public Schools in 2023.

Mrs. Poplos has a wealth of academic and teaching experience. She is an NC-licensed teacher with over 24 years of experience in teaching. She has 3 Master's degrees and one graduate certificate in education (Wilmington University and Liberty University). Mrs. Poplos has a passion for teaching and instilling Christ-centered character in her students.
